Today Is ...

One of my favorite snacks is Doritos Nacho corn chips dipped in chocolate pudding. When I was in sixth grade (1972-73; age 11 or 12), I first ate it in the cafeteria of Bayview Elementary School (West Islip, Long Island, New York) in an attempt to make two girls disgusted. They didn't care all that much, and I discovered that I really like it. I have eaten it many times over the years.

I don't need a jigsaw puzzle to know that I am puzzled.

When I was a young kid in the 1960s, as a gift, I gave my paternal grandfather a jigsaw puzzle. The pieces came in a glass canister: no picture, just all orange on both sides. He loved jigsaw puzzles. He completed it rather quickly.

Chocooate Cake

I really don't like to eat cake, but I do like to eat chocolate frosting, frozen and right out of the tub with a spoon. (I don't do that anymore, but I will enjoy a piece of cake as long as there is more frosting than cake.)

Mexico City Policy Reinstated

GOOD NEWS !!!

This is absolutely wonderful news, but it is not a surprise. For decades, Republican presidents have reinstated the Mexico City Policy, while Democrat presidents have abolished it.

I support the policy. Why should U.S. tax money be used for abortions in foreign countries? It shouldn't. U.S. money shouldn't be used for abortions in the United States, either.

Psychotic Behavior

In Florida, drivers waiting at a red light going straight for a minute or two turn left when the left-turn light turns green. Why? Are they that impatient? They would rather go off in a wrong direction rather than wait a few more seconds to go straight. These people are psychotic.

Never Give Up

Between women and job searches, I have been rejected at least 1,000 times. I always try again. One must have many things going at the same time because that will lead to success. Donald Trump knows this, which is why he is massively successful despite his few failures. The liberals say Trump is a business failure because these people don't understand how business works. When I was trying to get my first job in my profession in the late 1980s, I sent my résumé/CV to more than 400 newspapers, which was every daily newspaper in the four states where I wanted to live. Almost all were rejections, but I did get a job.

I have been rejected many hundreds of times by women, including 414 rejections by women in 18 months with a video dating service in the mid-1990s, when I was in my mid-30s. I did go on a few dates, but nothing materialized. Almost all of the hundreds of women who rejected me described me as "unattractive." I was without female companionship from age 20 to age 40, and not by choice. I was finally able to get married for the first and only time 22 days before my 45th birthday in February 2006. We are still together.

My point is to never give up.

I like many cheeses, including Provolone, Gorgonzola, Blue, Brie, and Emmental (Swiss), but (I think) my favorite cheese is Leyden from The Netherlands, which is similar to Gouda but contains whole cumin seeds and whole caraway seeds.

Today is National Disk Jockey Day. Dan Ingram (R.I P.) was and still is my favorite disc jockey on "WABC Musicradio 77" (770 AM) which broadcast from New York City when I was growing up on Long Island, New York, in the 1960s and 1970s.

The station began broadcasting Top 40 hits on December 7, 1960, less than three months before I was born, and switched to a news-and-talk format on May 10, 1982. Around that time, Ingram, and many of the other WABC DJs, went to WCBS (101.1 FM), which was an oldies music station in New York City, to which I also listened. Ingram retired in 2013 and passed in 2018 at the age of 83.

Ingram and the other DJs on WABC, including Harry Harrison, Bruce Morrow ("Cousin Brucie"), Ron Lundy (another favorite of mine), and Johnny Donovan, provided the soundtrack to my early life, especially during those many hot summers on the beach at Robert Moses State Park, either Field 4 or Field 5.

Stuffed Peppers

My wife made bell peppers stuffed with browned ground beef; cooked Israeli couscous; mushrooms, onions, and garlic sautéed in olive oil; ground black pepper, and dried basil, topped with the tomato sauce my wife and I made yesterday; then topped with Italian cheeses (Mozzarella, Provolone, Parmesan, Asiago, and Romano); and then baked at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes.

I like to eat Quark (the cheese), although I haven't eaten it in several years. Many years ago, I used Quark (computer program) at work. And, I have never seen a Quark (subatomic particle).
