I miss my paternal grandmother's peanut butter cookies (and her butter cookies) that she made when I was a kid in the 1960s and 1970s. I also loved my maternal grandmother's Italian cookies during that time.

Cake & Corn

Here is my opportunity to tell you that German chocolate cake has absolutely NOTHING to do with Germany. It's a brand name of a baker's chocolate named after a guy named Sam German. The recipe for the cake was on his packages of chocolate and then became famous.

"No King Day"

Liberals have designated June 14, 2025, the scheduled date of our military parade for the 250th birthday of the United States Army, as "No King Day" in protest of President Donald Trump who will also be celebrating Flag Day and his birthday on that date. OK, for one day, we can forget all about Martin Luther King Jr. and Billie Jean King. That sounds good to me. I absolutely refuse to forget about Trump ... and Alan King.

I am not all that fond of a Black Cow (root beer with vanilla ice cream). At university in the early 1980s in my early 20s, I ate/drank my share of chocolate ice cream in orange soda.

I prefer an egg roll to a spring roll, although the latter is authentic Chinese. I also like a summer roll, but that's a different, but similar item.

I occasionally enjoy an "Arnold Palmer," half iced tea and half lemonade. When I was attending golf camp in North Carolina in my teens and age 20 during Julys throughout the 1970s until 1981, I drank "Transfusions," which are Sprite and grape juice.

Class of 1979

On June 9, 1978, the Rolling Stones album "Some Girls" was released. This album is near and dear to my heart because it is the official album of West Islip High School's Class of 1979 of which I am a member.

Our unofficial senior prom song was "Shattered" from this album. Our official prom song was "We May Never Pass This Way (Again)" by Seals & Crofts. Both songs were played at our prom by the live band.

Also, someone (in 1979 around graduation day) spray-painted (in black paint) on the side of the high school: "Class of 1979 Shattered." By the time I retrieved my camera, it was already gone.

My all-time favorite Stones song is from the "Some Girls" album: "Before They Make Me Run." Here is a link to this song.

"Well here's another goodbye to another good friend."

Piano Improv: YouTube

Today's Date: June 7, 2025

Original Date Recorded: September 15, 2019

I decided to visually modify one of my older keyboard improvisations and then upload it onto my YouTube channel: "Bill Santos: Piano & More." (length: 5'19")

I like to sit at my digital piano and just start playing whatever is in my head at that time. I make it up as I go along. This is my method with all of my piano improvisational videos.

I still have many VCR-format videotapes, but no videotape player. I even have videotapes with the PAL format from Austria, which I couldn't play here in the United States even if I had a video player due to incompatibility. I watched one tape long ago at my cousin's home in Austria of a pop concert tour of Rainhard Fendrich that we had attended with her and her then-husband in Vienna, Austria, in 1997. Yeah, I brought the tape with me on a subsequent vacation to Austria so that we could watch it together.

My dad purchased a videotape recorder in the mid-1970s. I remember that one of my earliest recordings from when I was 15 years old was of George Harrison and Paul Simon performing on the show Saturday Night Live in 1976. Also in the 1970s, I recorded a music show with promotional films of ABBA and Thin Lizzy, and a live concert by the Electric Light Orchestra.

Ladies, today would be a good day to travel to the forest to visit the bear you would prefer to encounter than a man.

On a hunting trip in Canada long ago, my uncle shot and had mounted a record-setting, 650-pound black bear. My mom and I nicknamed him Max after the boxer Max Baer, whose son, Max Baer Jr., played Jethro Bodine on the TV sitcom "The Beverly Hillbillies." Both my uncle and his father (my grandfather) were pugilists.

Uglification

"Conservative fashion magazine editors explain why style is 'coded' left politically"

EXCERPT: "I think that there's been an uglification, whether you see modern art or you see progressives kind of pushing onto women to reject men, dye your hair blue and wear a septum piercing," Jayme Franklin, founder and CEO of The Conservateur, told Fox News Digital.
