Serious Thoughts on Father's Day

Children raised in two-parent (mother and father) homes and single-father homes are much more successful than children raised in single-mother homes, statistical analyses have stated. Children raised in single-mother homes are more likely to be criminals, drug addicts, suffer from depression, have higher instances of suicide, etc. Single-father homes and two-parent (mother and father) homes are quite similar. This is all based on sociological studies. Of course, the two-parent home, again with a mother and a father) is best, but the single-father home is about equal.

In the United States, mothers are awarded full custody of the children in at least 92 percent of family-court cases. This is due to anti-male judges and the false notion that mothers are better nurturers than fathers. That "idea" has been proven to be incorrect.

Lawyers are advising fathers to NOT fight to be with their children because the fights are extremely expensive, and the fathers are almost sure to lose.

Fathers are people, too. I would love to see fathers get a little justice. (I am NOT a father.)

80 percent of divorces are initiated by women, 90 percent by university-educated women.

(I have been a Men's Rights Activist since the early 1990s, when I was in my early 30s. I have been interested in the futile efforts to preserve and expand Men's Rights and Father's Rights for decades somewhat on a practical level, but mostly on an intellectual level.)

Father's Day Video

I created and uploaded onto my YouTube channel a video in honor of my father and all other fathers on Father's Day. (length: 5 minutes, 16 seconds)

Father's Day Wishes

from husband Bill, June 21, 2026

Happy Father's Day to my father-in-law Bob (R.I.P.). He was not only down to earth but also larger than life. Here I am with Bob and my mother-in-law Lorna (R.I.P.) at our wedding reception on February 4, 2006. Bob, you are sorely missed and forever in our thoughts and within our hearts. Of course, Lorna is also sorely missed.

Happy Father's Day to my dad (August 30, 1934 - February 14, 1997). I still sorely and immensely miss him. This is a photo of my dad and me in December 1974 at the house of my great-aunt Rose in East Orange, New Jersey. I was 13 years old. My dad died on his mother's birthday -- she passed away on May 22, 1977 -- and the day after the birthday of his sister, with whom I have lost connection.

Dad was cremated. Half of his ashes were interred at Breslau Cemetery in Lindenhurst, Long Island, New York. The other half of his ashes were scattered into the North Atlantic Ocean from a U.S. Navy ship. Dad served 22 years in the Navy and retired at the rank of Commander. He was a few months short of Captain. He served on a ship in the 1950s, transporting DPs (displaced persons or, as he called them, delayed pilgrims) after World War II from Bremerhaven, Germany, to New York City.

My father had a twin brother named Wilbur who died in 1935 at the age of 9 months due to spinal meningitis.

National Dachshund Day

from husband Bill, June 21, 2026

Today (June 21) is National Dachshund Day. I grew up with dachshunds in the 1960s, 1970s, and into the 1980s, namely Penelope, Ludwig, Dudley, and Ziggy. All have since passed.

Here is a photo of Dudley (as a puppy) from the 1980s. My dad thought he looked like the actor Dudley Moore, hence his name.

Ziggy (1980s) was named after the cartoon character due to similar physical attributes. (photo in comment section)

Ludwig (1970s) was named after Ludwig van Beethoven.

Penelope (1960s; I don't remember name origin; probably already named)

I loved my paternal grandmother's peach pie when I was a kid in the 1960s and 1970s. She used to boil the pits in water, remove the pits, and then add unflavored gelatin and a drop of red food coloring to make it pink. She then poured this mixture over the sliced peaches in a pie shell and baked it.

WARNING: She didn't know that peach pits (and other fruit pits) contain amygdalin that can create poisonous cyanide when digested. So, do NOT boil peach pits.

At university in the early 1980s in my early 20s, I ate/drank more than my share of my favorite ice cream soda: chocolate ice cream in orange soda.

I prefer black-and-white milkshakes (vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup).

Wear BLUE Day

from husband Bill, June 19, 2026

I created and uploaded onto my YouTube channel this short video in celebration of "Wear BLUE Day," which falls on the Friday before Father's Day. (length: 2 minutes,  4 seconds) ... By wearing blue, you show that you support the men in your life to lead a healthy lifestyle and that you care about their well-being.

Also, June is National Men's Health Awareness Month.

(I know that I am a bit tardy with this video. I wasn't even sure if I was actually going to create it. So, this video is for an informational purpose rather than a participatory purpose due to its lateness.)

Men's Health & More

from husband Bill, June 19, 2026

Men's health is the focus of Wear BLUE Day on the Friday before Father's Day. By wearing blue, you are saying you support the men in your life to lead a healthy lifestyle, and you care about their well-being.

Also, June is National Men's Health Month.

1 in 6 men will have prostate cancer in his lifetime compared to 1 in 8 women who will have breast cancer in her lifetime. Yes, prostate cancer is more deadly than breast cancer. Federal funding for breast cancer research is 600 percent HIGHER than federal funding for prostate cancer research. That's SIX TIMES HIGHER.

This is my normal, default speed: slow. As a journalist from 1982 to 2017, I have had thousands of frantic deadlines, when I had to work at full speed. With one of my gigs, I was writing 13 to 16 financial articles EVERY DAY for a wire service, 13 of which had strict deadlines.

So, after my workdays were completed in all my gigs, I made it a point to physically and mentally overly slow myself, so I would relax my mind, and purposely and drastically slow my gait.

Now, that I have been dealing with major medical issues, I have no choice but to be slow until I completely recover. Actually, I am still unable to walk without support, following nine surgeries between March 2022 and May 2026: 1 heart, 2 chest, 2 spine, 1 right ankle, 1 both legs, 1 left foot, and 1 left leg.
