Today is National Cannoli Day !!! Cannoli (singular: cannolo) are my favorite Italian dessert and one of my favorite all-time desserts. They are Sicilian pastries consisting of tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet, creamy filling containing ricotta cheese. The filling sometimes contains chocolate chips or small pieces of dried fruit. I have eaten hundreds of them during my lifetime (so far). (I'm half Italian.)
