Superstitions

Since I was a young kid in the 1960s, whenever I walk between two people, for luck, I say "bread and butter."

When I was a kid in the 1960s, for luck, whenever I passed a telephone pole, I would walk in a circle around it. I don't do that anymore.

When I was a young kid in the 1960s, someone called me "odd." So, since then for luck, I must always have an odd number of ice cubes in my beverages.

I was a journalist from 1982 to 2017, so no whistling in the newsroom. It's bad luck.

(Note: For us Italians, 13 is a lucky number.)

I'm Italian, so, for luck, we put a few coins under the floor mat in the back seat behind the driver's seat of a friend's or family member's new car. Also, one of my Italian aunts said that green cars are bad luck.
