VIDEO: Max Verstappen's record-breaking lap (length of video: 1 minute, 56 seconds)
My favorite F1 driver, Max Verstappen from The Netherlands, set the record for the fastest lap in the 75-year history of Formula 1 racing today (September 6, 2025) during qualifying for tomorrow's Italian Grand Prix at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. I will be watching the race on TV tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time (3 p.m. Central European Time).Verstappen's record lap time was 1:18:792 (1 minute, 18.792 seconds). His average speed during the lap was 264.682 kilometers per hour (164.46639127 miles per hour). He secured the pole position for this race.
Verstappen won the Formula 1 Championship in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
(F1 racing is the only sport that I actively follow. I have been a fan for decades.)
