A SHORT, PERSONAL COMMENTARY ON DEI HIRING

In the mid-1990s, I was passed over for a promotion because I'm a man. How do I know? My boss told me. She was in charge of two in-house writers, a man and a woman, plus freelancers. When the woman left the company, my boss (one of two) thought she had to fill that position with a woman. (Years later, that's what Biden did with Kamala.) Anyway, the woman took the position. I didn't throw a hissyfit because she was a good writer, and I kind of liked her. I ended up getting a promotion in a different area of the company. My point is, don't tell me that I didn't get the job because I'm a man. Tell me that I didn't get the job because she was a better writer than me. Simple. I kind of thought we were about equal, but I am no judge. I love my own writing.
