The deed has been done. This afternoon (November 8, 2025), I had two of my toes amputated on my left foot (the third and fourth). I was to have all five toes amputated, but my podiatrist, who did the surgery, told me that I had a 50-50 chance of saving the other three toes with antibiotics.
I have a bone infection in the big toe of my left foot. I will require four weeks (instead of six weeks) of daily intravenous antibiotics. I have been receiving many antibiotics here at the hospital. I have endured the daily six-week-long antibiotic regimen many times for infections in the skin and bones of both of my feet and legs.PHOTO: Tuesday evening (November 4, 2025), I had surgery to remove a long vein in my right leg (about 3 feet long) to bypass an occluded (blocked) artery in my left leg. The vein was put within my left leg.
